An interesting morsel from Golf Times about - Where did the term "handicap" come from anyway.
Well, I'll tell you. The whole idea of a golf handicap dates to the 17th century when those crafty Scots borrowed the idea from horse racing. In the days of yore jockeys were handed their winnings in a cap and in time , hand-in-cap morphed into handicap. So you see race fans, having an accurate handicap makes for a better "horse race". Then again, who ever wants the race to be fair, you want to crush the other guy when ever possible.He's got some interesting posts over at Golf Times

After talking to consumers day after day, it is easy to an idea of what people think of certain equipment. Combine the thoughts of average golfers with our own staff product testing and we get a pretty good review.
Where do you get the industry news and rumors from? This section is a combination of many different sources. I would say the majority of the information comes from manufacturer sales reps that we see on a daily basis. We also get insider emails from some of the major manufacturers that have little tidbits of information from time to time. These emails can be both good and bad though because obviously they are very biased towards their parent companies. The internet can sometimes provide some good leads on new products as well. We scan a selection of other websites on a regular basis to find information to investigate further. It also doesn’t hurt to have a speed dial full of golf professionals, course managers and sales people!
